Book Cover: Shadow Prince
Part of the The Flame Squad series:

On his quest for revenge, Efrain meets Kiyumi Takashi, a charming young Japanese woman and a daughter of a Japanese diplomat. He tries to push her away, because she belongs in the light, far from the dark world he lives in. Kiyumi, however, is persistent and soon breaks down his walls.

With Kiyumi at his side, Efrain thinks that he can finally put his past behind him. That is until he finds out the truth about her. Can he still love her or will he continue to walk the path of revenge?

Excerpt:

Efrain intended to head straight to the Flame Squad’s hideout, but with Kiyumi at his side, they were led to detours of all kinds. The thirty-minute drive became two hours and they were still nowhere close to their destination. They were walking deep into a park filled with happy couples and hopeful singles.

Finally, they sat down on one of the benches.

“Are you sure you don’t want one?” Kiyumi asked, pushing her plate of food closer to him.

“No, I’m good.”

Efrain watched her pierce the tempura from the disposable saucer with a fork. The sweet chili sauce dripped from the elongated piece of munchie as she brought the plastic utensil to her lips.

“Thanks for being with me today, Rain. I’ve been searching for this in months without luck. I guess you’re my lucky charm.”

Efrain glanced at the bags between them. He wasn't against driving her around, but it was embarrassing when Kiyumi dragged him from the lingerie shop to the bookstore and made him help carry all her girly manga books to the cashier. However, the joy on Kiyumi’s face as she peeked into her bag of goodies was worth it.

Unable to hold himself back any longer, Efrain reached out for the empty saucer in Kiyumi’s hand, cleared away the shopping bags, and leaned over to kiss her, deepening it when she closed her eyes and allowed him to pull her close. They were both gasping for air when he let her go and just by looking in her eyes, he could tell that they had both reached their limit. Efrain tucked a wayward strand of Kiyumi’s hair behind her ear and planted another light kiss on her lips. He gathered the bags from the ground and offered her his other hand. “I’ll drive you home.”

Kiyumi let him help her up and hold her hand all the way back to his car. But before he could enter the car, Kiyumi grabbed the hem of his shirt from behind. “I don’t want to go home. I want you to bring me to your home.”

Efrain gritted his teeth and combed his finger through his hair, frustrated. Damn it! He wanted her, but he knew that once he took her, he would no longer be able to let her go.

He looked back and used his thumb and index finger to lift Kiyumi’s chin. “Take it back now, or I no longer will care about dragging you in the dark. I’ll make you mine and never let go, even if you regret it.”

Kiyumi took his hand from her chin and placed her cheek on his open palm, and then she looked at him with determined eyes. “I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

“That’s her, Mr. Police! That’s the girl who tried to steal my wallet!”

“Miss, could you please turn around?” the policeman said.

Blaze grimaced. Using the elastic band, which he always has around his wrist, he bundled his long hair and turned around. He glanced at the police who seemed taken aback when he smiled and faced the woman with an I’m-innocent look in his eyes. “I’m sorry, miss, but you are mistaken. I’m a boy you see.”

The woman studied him for a second then shook her head. She turned to the policeman. “No, I’m sure it’s him.”

“But you said it was a girl,” the policeman said, completely falling under Blaze’s façade.

The woman frowned. “Well, look at him! Anyway, I’m sure that he’s the one. He’s wearing the same clothes and has the same face.”

“Boy, you’re not lying right?”

Blaze faced the police confidently. “Of course not! I wouldn’t dare lie to a policeman.” He laughed inwardly. Yeah, right!

“He’s obviously lying!” The woman pointed. “Why don’t you check him, Mr. Police? He could be hiding more wallets. He could be a girl for all we know.”

“That’s right, you won’t mind if I check right?”

Blaze had hidden his newly collected wallets in a place where no one would put their hands in public, but the abnormal spark on the policeman’s eyes made Blaze nervous. Before he knew it, he was sprinting at full speed with the policeman on his tail.

“Put me down!” Yuna screamed, embarrassed from the looks and whispers of the people in the hotel lobby outside the restaurant.

“But you’re going to run away the moment I do,” Benjamin said.

Yuna chuckled. “Are you stupid? Of course, I will.”

“There you have it.”

“What?”

“The answer as to why I’m still carrying you,” he said. And though Yuna couldn’t see his face, she had a feeling he still had that satisfied smirk.

“Wait! Where are you going?” Yuna froze when she saw the check-in desk. “Stop!” she demanded, hitting and scratching Benjamin’s back. It was too late, Benjamin already stood in front of the surprised receptionist, who didn’t seem to know what to say.

Yuna tried her best to raise her body, hoping to ask the receptionist for help, but Benjamin tightened his grip on the back of her knees.

“Don’t worry, Miss. My fiancée and I are simply having some issues. We would like to have some privacy. So, if I could please get my room key. It’s three-zero-five.”

“Okay, sir.” The receptionist went to get the key and handed it to Benjamin. “Enjoy your stay!” she said cheerfully.

He looked back to check on Yuna, and she saw the warning in his eyes before he turned back to the receptionist. “Yes, we will.”

Changing the Past

Book Cover: Changing the Past

You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. Twilight ventures into enemy territory to find the boy she helped five years ago and discovers the mystifying truth behind his disappearance.

Excerpt:

-Chicago 1972-

For Twilight the world was a crappy place to live in. Some enjoyed living blissfully in the light, while she and others like her lived in the shadows, but everyone pushed through to survive.

“Hey, Miss, do you want some smoke?”

Twilight threw a glance at the dubious man wearing a light brown coat and smiled. Obviously, the man took it as a sign of agreement and approached her from the dark area of the street. “I’ve got plenty of supply today. I can give a discount if you’ll also recommend others to me.”

“Sure. But is it okay to buy just a few? I’m new here and just want to try.” Twilight faked another smile and reached for the wallet in her pocket, even though all she wanted was to kick the man in his balls and run from this stinking dark alley plagued by people high from things she didn’t even want to imagine.

The man eyed Twilight with scrutinizing eyes but she had a mission, and the last thing she wanted was to have him become suspicious of her. She might not be the best actress, but she could scrape by when it was needed. She’d managed to live eighteen years of her life using what little skills she had and she wasn’t willing to fail now. She stood firmly and behaved as if she wanted to keep the whole thing hush-hush. That seemed to convince him. He fished two different things out of his pocket, one that looked like an ordinary cigarette and the other a packet containing small tablets.

The man started explaining the different effects of the drugs, but Twilight couldn’t care less which one she got, so she grabbed the smoke and paid more than was asked.
She went home, flushed it down her toilet and returned there each night for a week until she slowly got familiar with a few people. Enough so they would think she was no danger to them.

“Gardo, may I ask you a question?” she asked him after paying for the same product.

“Of course you can. What is it? A friend needs help?”

She smiled. “No, actually I was wondering if you ever wonder why I keep coming back here.”

He laughed. “Well, I did. But I figured you must be some troubled rich girl right? I’ve seen lot of them here before, but so far you’re the only one who seemed to know how to hold it together.”

“I’m not a troubled rich girl.”

His face turned serious. “You’re not going to tell me that you’re some undercover cop, are you?”

“No. Actually, I’m looking for someone.”

Gardo ruffled his short hair and tossed his smoke on the ground. “You got close to me after finding out I know a lot, did you?”

“Yes.”

“And you never use any of the stuff you bought.”

“Yes.”

Gardo grabbed the collar of her blouse and pinned her against the wall. People nearby who were awake enough to understand that something was wrong warily walked off.
“Who are you? What do you want?”
