Minsan Pa, is a wholesome Filipino Romcom

Excerpt:

“Neena, is that—”

“That’s her, Mr. Police! That’s the girl who tried to steal my wallet!”

“Miss, could you please turn around?” the policeman said.

Blaze grimaced. Using the elastic band, which he always has around his wrist, he bundled his long hair and turned around. He glanced at the police who seemed taken aback when he smiled and faced the woman with an I’m-innocent look in his eyes. “I’m sorry, miss, but you are mistaken. I’m a boy you see.”

The woman studied him for a second then shook her head. She turned to the policeman. “No, I’m sure it’s him.”

“But you said it was a girl,” the policeman said, completely falling under Blaze’s façade.

The woman frowned. “Well, look at him! Anyway, I’m sure that he’s the one. He’s wearing the same clothes and has the same face.”

“Boy, you’re not lying right?”

Blaze faced the police confidently. “Of course not! I wouldn’t dare lie to a policeman.” He laughed inwardly. Yeah, right!

“He’s obviously lying!” The woman pointed. “Why don’t you check him, Mr. Police? He could be hiding more wallets. He could be a girl for all we know.”

“That’s right, you won’t mind if I check right?”

Blaze had hidden his newly collected wallets in a place where no one would put their hands in public, but the abnormal spark on the policeman’s eyes made Blaze nervous. Before he knew it, he was sprinting at full speed with the policeman on his tail.

Twenty-one-year-old Triste wanted nothing more than to be the crown princess of the Netherworld. She accepted her father’s condition of going to the land of the humans to find a thousand souls to be her army or one pure soul as a sacrifice. In her first week, she found a man with a pure, untainted soul. The problem was that he had a guardian angel, Cadriel, who prevents her from getting close enough to this person. There’s only one solution: kill the angel and get the human.

Unlike most angels, instead of eliminating the demon who obviously plans to taint the soul of the person he was guarding, Archangel Cadriel amused himself by only hindering this cute, inexperienced demon. He doesn’t care if she’s after his life; after all, one look and he can tell that he’s more experienced and has more skills than her. He could kill her anytime he wants. But can he?

“That was close.”

Cadriel maneuvered himself in midair and smiled at the angel coming out of the blinding light with hair almost as white as his folded wings behind him.

“Agnolo, why are you here?”

Like him, Agnolo suspended himself in the air and looked him straight in the eyes. “Cadriel, the gods—”

He raised his hand to stop Agnolo. “If this is about last night, please, don’t bother. I know the rules, but I just can’t attack anyone who is defenseless, and I mean anyone.”

Agnolo smiled uncertainly. “The gods are worried that what happened to Alastair will also happen to you.”

He narrowed his eyes before shaking his head, feeling annoyed. Alastair was supposed to be Victor’s guardian angel, but after Alastair had let the demon get away with the human he was assigned to before, the gods made Cadriel takeover the guardianship of Victor.

“Tell the gods this—I have never failed them since I started working for them, so I hope they won’t start doubting me now and comparing me to Alastair. We do things differently, and the gods should know that better than anyone else. They didn’t rank me an archangel for fun, did they?”

“Cadriel! You know I can’t say something so disrespectful!”

“I know.” He smiled. Personally, he didn't see how saying what was in his mind disrespectful, but that’s just how most angels were, and Agnolo was not an exception. “Please just tell the gods not to worry, I have everything under control.”

Secrets and lies are uncovered as Serene makes her decision.

Excerpt:

“Oh, if it isn’t Insane Virus!” I said, doing my best to sound calm. I took a few steps across the corridor and faced Zane with a mocking smile. “Why did you come—to spread your insanity virus to everyone?”

“It’s a virus you know best, isn’t it?” he replied with a faint smile on his lips as his deep expressive eyes travelled from my face down to my breasts and stayed on my exposed legs.

I felt heat rush through my body. When I heard it unlock I stepped toward the bathroom door. But just as Adrian stepped out, Zane got hold of my wrist and pulled me close. Before I managed to push Zane away, our lips touched. His left hand tightly secured my head, while his right hand traveled from my wrist up to my shoulder. His lips continuously encouraged me to open up for him, something I was unable to resist.

I softly moaned against his mouth the moment his tongue entered and playfully touched mine. His hand once again moved from my bare shoulder to my back and pinned me to the wall, messing up my long hair. Zane continued to kiss me and didn’t let go until Adrian shyly excused himself and went off with the woman, who had stepped out into the hall with a curious look on her face

“That should prevent you from catching any more guys in your trap,” Zane said, then briskly walked away, leaving me flooded with memories and weak in the knees as I went into the bathroom and stared at my reflection.

Jenci’s Trouble

“Humans are shallow. They’ll never keep eyes on you unless you look appealing.” that’s what Jenci’s sister told him when he was having problem figuring out how to get noticed by the cool college girl who seems to be surrounded by good-looking guys he can’t compete but wait… maybe… just maybe there’s a way.

Excerpt:

Jenci was a perfectly healthy eighteen-year-old guy: he loved girls and hid some “not so disgusting” men’s magazines under his bed. He was freshly out of college but managed to quickly nab a decent job because of his good academic record. Like many others he also fantasized about seeing girls and women admiring him as he walked in the street; or of having pretty girls approach him to ask if the bus just passed, as an excuse to talk to him.

“Excuse me, has the bus heading for Ninth Street passed?”

Jenci peeked through his black-rimmed glasses to see the cute college girl standing beside him with her smartphone. He has seen her before, they took the same bus each afternoon but she always got off shortly before him.

“I don’t really know, but the next bus might come soon.”

Jenci sighed and hung his head. He could only wish that it was him who had said the answer for the girl, but sadly enough it was the guy standing on the other side of her.

He told himself that he wasn’t in a rush to get married or build a family—but all his friends already had girlfriends or were even engaged. He was the only one who hadn’t even gone out on a date.

Who would want to date me, I wouldn’t date myself if I was a girl. Jenci thought to himself as he half-listened to the two beside him. The guy seemed so confident when he talked and even introduced himself to the girl, who Jenci suspected had his fancy.

“I’m Nevena,” the girl said, shaking the guy’s hand before glancing at Jenci and casually smiling at him, enough to make him fret...

Changing the Past

You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. Twilight ventures into enemy territory to find the boy she helped five years ago and discovers the mystifying truth behind his disappearance.

Excerpt:

-Chicago 1972-

For Twilight the world was a crappy place to live in. Some enjoyed living blissfully in the light, while she and others like her lived in the shadows, but everyone pushed through to survive.

“Hey, Miss, do you want some smoke?”

Twilight threw a glance at the dubious man wearing a light brown coat and smiled. Obviously, the man took it as a sign of agreement and approached her from the dark area of the street. “I’ve got plenty of supply today. I can give a discount if you’ll also recommend others to me.”

“Sure. But is it okay to buy just a few? I’m new here and just want to try.” Twilight faked another smile and reached for the wallet in her pocket, even though all she wanted was to kick the man in his balls and run from this stinking dark alley plagued by people high from things she didn’t even want to imagine.

The man eyed Twilight with scrutinizing eyes but she had a mission, and the last thing she wanted was to have him become suspicious of her. She might not be the best actress, but she could scrape by when it was needed. She’d managed to live eighteen years of her life using what little skills she had and she wasn’t willing to fail now. She stood firmly and behaved as if she wanted to keep the whole thing hush-hush. That seemed to convince him. He fished two different things out of his pocket, one that looked like an ordinary cigarette and the other a packet containing small tablets.

The man started explaining the different effects of the drugs, but Twilight couldn’t care less which one she got, so she grabbed the smoke and paid more than was asked.
She went home, flushed it down her toilet and returned there each night for a week until she slowly got familiar with a few people. Enough so they would think she was no danger to them.

“Gardo, may I ask you a question?” she asked him after paying for the same product.

“Of course you can. What is it? A friend needs help?”

She smiled. “No, actually I was wondering if you ever wonder why I keep coming back here.”

He laughed. “Well, I did. But I figured you must be some troubled rich girl right? I’ve seen lot of them here before, but so far you’re the only one who seemed to know how to hold it together.”

“I’m not a troubled rich girl.”

His face turned serious. “You’re not going to tell me that you’re some undercover cop, are you?”

“No. Actually, I’m looking for someone.”

Gardo ruffled his short hair and tossed his smoke on the ground. “You got close to me after finding out I know a lot, did you?”

“Yes.”

“And you never use any of the stuff you bought.”

“Yes.”

Gardo grabbed the collar of her blouse and pinned her against the wall. People nearby who were awake enough to understand that something was wrong warily walked off.
“Who are you? What do you want?”

What Took You So Long?

Milky thought she was ready for anything, but is she ready for love?

Ready to take on the world, Milky Valdez moves to Madrid to carve out a life and a career for herself, away from the stifling help of her well-meaning, affluent parents. Still young and inexperienced with men, she is shocked when she meets Luke, her handsome, womanizing neighbor, who leads a hedonistic lifestyle as a music producer.

Despite their differences, the two strike up an unlikely friendship.

Milky’s new world changes when she overhears a conversation that leads her to make a rash decision. Giving up her virginity to a friend seems like the easy option, but when she finds out what Luke has given up for her in return, she realizes just how big a risk she’s taking.

Excerpt:

“Is that why you’re waiting until you get married to have sex?”

I glared at him. “I’ve never had a boyfriend! I thought I told you that already.”

“I just find it strange. If you want to lose your virginity that much, why not...you know, use a vibrator?”

“I can’t! I tried, but just imagining the pain it would cause made me too scared.”

He laughed. “Right.” He moved out of bed and I looked away when I saw that he was only wearing a pair of boxers. He stepped toward the bathroom before looking back. “I heard some virgins say that it wasn’t that bad when they first lost it. Sure, there’s a pain, but there’s also pleasure.”

“Really?”

“That’s what I heard.”

I jumped out of bed and stopped him from closing the door, swallowing when my eyes landed on his well-sculpted abs. My eyes then traveled down to the V-shape that pointed to the secret part I had never personally seen in my life. “What?” He placed one hand on the doorjamb and the other on my chin. “Don’t tell me I’ll be the lucky guy?”

I lifted my eyes and answered him seriously. “Yes. Please take my virginity, Luke.”

The playful expression on his face vanished. He let go of my face and turned away. I heard him chuckle. “Are you still drunk or sleepy?”

“Neither. I’ve never been more sure and awake in my life!”

Luke took a deep breath and faced me with a conceited smile. “You’ll regret it.”

“Why?”

“You’ll enjoy having sex with me so much you’ll never be satisfied with someone else.”

“You’ve got it backward, Luke. You’ll have so much fun with me that you’ll lose all interest in being with other women.”

His playful look returned. “You’re on,” he said, pulling me close and pressing our lips together for the first time.
